Traditional gingerbread recipe
A staple of the festive season, gingerbread is deeply rooted in Alsatian culinary traditions, particularly those surrounding Christmas. But this delicious "honey cake", originally from China, can be prepared and enjoyed all year round. It offers an inimitable bouquet of spicy flavours that we can't get enough of. Here's our easy recipe using our ready-made Terra Madre blend.

Gingerbread, the easy and fluffy recipe
Ingredients for 6 people :
- 250 g chestnut honey
- 6 teaspoons Terra Madre Gingerbread Mix
- 250 g wheat flour
- 1 sachet baking powder
- 5 cl sunflower oil
- Zest of one orange
- 1 small cup boiling water
To make this recipe:
In a small container of boiling water, mix the sunflower oil, chestnut honey, orange zest and Terra Madre Gingerbread Mix.
Then add the flour and baking powder. Mix again to obtain a smooth, liquid dough.
Pour the mixture into a buttered and floured cake tin, then bake at 180°C for 50 minutes.
And voilà: your gingerbread is ready to be enjoyed over the festive season (or not!) with foie gras, faux gras or cheese (camembert, brie, munster, goat's cheese).
Terra Madre Gingerbread Mix, a gourmet's secret
Terra Madre Gingerbread Mix is the perfect blend for gingerbread. Composed of cinnamon, ginger, anise, clove and cardamom, it allows you to create a gourmet gingerbread with rich, warm flavours.
This blend of spices can also be incorporated into compotes, fruit salads or a variety of cake recipes. Even more original, add a few pinches to panna cotta or crème brûlée. A feast for the taste buds!
