Herbal teas, a natural and tasty source of benefits and well-being
When it comes to treating minor ailments, promoting sleep, improving digestion..., herbal infusions are often the first reflex of people seeking naturalness and wishing to combine flavors and benefits.
In our range of almost 100 references of simple and compound herbal teas, including many "home-made recipes" that are highly acclaimed by our customers, the quality of the plants is paramount, and we take great care to select reputed, preserved terroirs cultivated using organic or biodynamic methods. The results are felt immediately after the first sip, because once nature has done its work, all that's left to do is enjoy it in the cup.
Benefits clearly indicated on every pack of our herbal teas
Tonic, antioxidant, digestive, anti-inflammatory, soothing, respiratory..., we clearly indicate on each pack of our simple infusions or compound herbal teas, the benefits you can expect from consuming them. The number of cups per day required for the active ingredients to take effect is also clearly indicated. All that's left to do is savour without question.
Which herbal tea is best for sleep?
Along with digestion, this is surely the first thing we're asked about. Among our herbal teas with soothing properties to help you fall asleep, Bonne Nuit is available in bulk with whole leaves and flowers, or in infusettes. This delicious infusion with its mild, slightly sweet flavour contains lemon balm, lime blossom and lavender, three plants particularly renowned for their soothing effect.
These three plants can also be consumed on their own, with, as with lemon balm, additional virtues. Lemon balm is also renowned for its digestive properties.
Among our recipes that make it easier to fall into the arms of Morpheus, Prends ton temps, based on the trio of verbena, lemon balm and lavender, is a relaxing herbal tea whose supple, textured infusion is particularly appreciated. The combination of sweet verbena with the sparkling notes of lemongrass is particularly pleasing.
À 40 ans la femme, which also contains lemon balm and lavender, is a delightful composition of plants and flowers dedicated to the blossoming woman in search of serenity.
Among simple herbal teas, we'd also like to mention chamomile, a common flower that produces an infusion of incomparable sweetness and texture, and which has always been used for its ability to promote sleep, but also for its calming effects on digestive disorders.
Finally, let's not forget calendula tea. This magnificent flower, reminiscent of the sun, is particularly gentle and soothing, and its benefits also include a beneficial effect on intestinal transit and liver function.
After a good night's sleep, set off in search of energy and vitality during the day!
After a good night's sleep, it's time to get active! You may need a little "boost" during the day, and therefore a tonic herbal infusion. Opt for a cup of Powerful! This stimulating, colorful herbal composition containing mate, cinnamon and goji berries has been created to infuse as much energy as flavor into an infusion!
Par tous les temps, as its name suggests, will enable you to face the changing seasons with serenity. This invigorating blend of peppermint, fennel and lavender also offers a moment of relaxation with its sweet and spicy flavours.
If you prefer a simple herbal infusion, consider verbena, whose flavors are much appreciated by pastry chefs. This plant is used in many desserts. Born for gourmets, it is also renowned for its impressive number of benefits. These include its fortifying properties, of course, but also its antioxidant properties, its positive effect on the immune system, general well-being, joint suppleness and relief from the effects of premenstrual cycles and menopause.
Finally, if you're looking for a change of scenery, hibiscus tea, also known as "bissap", is a real concentrate of benefits from Africa, where it has become the national drink in many countries. This magnificent ruby-red infusion is renowned for its revitalizing and draining properties, and for its incomparable capacity to quench thirst in hot weather.
Which herbal tea for better digestion?
When it's time to leave the table, we often wonder which herbal tea to choose to feel lighter.
Have you tried Repas relax, one of our latest herbal creations reputed to aid digestion? Made with rosemary, fennel and coriander, it stimulates the digestive system and aids elimination. It also appeals to the taste buds with its spicy, sweet, aniseed and iodized flavours, offering a final gustatory pleasure before a light meal.
For rooibos lovers, Zoulou digest, with its trio of digestive spices such as caraway, fennel and aniseed, makes South Africa's national infusion a real treat at the end of a meal!
Young mothers don't necessarily think of it when they're looking for an herbal tea that makes breastfeeding easier, but Maman baby, also based on the digestive spice trio of caraway, fennel and aniseed, is not only galactogenic, but also improves digestive comfort. A real concentrate of sweetness for moms..
More classic, mint infusions such as our peppermint or mint verbena infusions are a must at the end of a meal, thanks to the plant's well-known stimulating effects on the digestive system.
Finally, in the long list of our digestive infusions, you can choose between the essential sage, the aptly named Happy bedon with mallow and sweet mint, La tisane de mamy with peppermint or La tisane du jeûne with lemon balm and raspberry leaves.
Looking for a draining herbal tea?
Our recipes include Le fruit qui rougit and Des jambes si légères. The former, with hibiscus and rooibos, has a very fruity, slightly acidic taste, while the latter, with maté and rosemary, is particularly fresh and invigorating.
Alongside these two "house compositions", heather, renowned for its benefits to the elimination process and the immune system, stands out among the singles for its particularly intense floral and sweet flavours.
My bronchial tubes are blocked. Which herbal infusion should I choose to breathe easier?
Among our herbal teas with benefits for the respiratory system, we can of course mention our new recipe for À Pleins Poumons herbal tea, made with common thyme with its well-known expectorant properties, hyssop, peppermint and marigold petals.
To help you get through those times of year when the respiratory tract is under strain, you can also rely on Calmetoux, an expectorant and soothing recipe based on thyme and plants and flowers renowned for their respiratory benefits.
Which anti-inflammatory or antioxidant herbal tea to choose?
To soothe temporary inflammation, we recommend our Turmeric Ginger infusion or our La souplesse du dragon herbal tea, both of which contain turmeric for their anti-inflammatory properties, while our Healthy Glow herbal tea will give you a radiant complexion with its combination of antioxidant plants such as cinnamon, violet and verbena.
Is there such a thing as an herbal tea to improve circulation and give you lighter legs?
Yes, of course, and it's red vine, which has been cultivated for its benefits since the dawn of time. Its sweet, pleasant infusion is rich in polyphenols, which promote blood circulation and reduce leg fatigue.
Arlette ROHMER visits Carlos, plant producer in Portugal
Preserved terroirs for healthy, colorful plants and richly flavored herbal teas
When we select new partners, it's essential for us to meet them and discover their terroirs. Alongside certification by independent bodies, this is the only way for us to guarantee the origin and quality of the plants used in our recipes, or those we sell as single plants. Whenever possible, and depending on the quantities we need, we also give preference to producers as close as possible to our company, as the organoleptic quality of the plants and their active ingredients is directly linked to their freshness and the way in which they reach our premises.
Certified organic plants grown in a natural park with a "sensitive approach
Our six new wellness and health herbal teas with evocative names Powerful, Bonne Mine, Repas Relax, La Souplesse du Dragon, Prends ton temps and À Pleins Poumons, for example, are the fruit of a recent partnership with Monte das Aromaticas. This young farm founded in 2016 by Carlos Nogueira is located north of the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park, a protected area in the northeastern border region of Alentejo, 15km from the Spanish border. The farm employs 3 full-time and 3 part-time staff. Some thirty plants and flowers are grown organically on 4.5 hectares.
The plants supplied to us by Monte das Aromaticas reflect all the qualities of their preserved terroir, in terms of both organoleptic richness and visual quality. They also reflect the care taken in harvesting them and the delicate drying process. The farm supplies us with a wide range of plants, including cayenne pepper, basil, lemongrass, French tarragon, bay leaf, oregano, parsley, rosemary, common thyme, lemon thyme, sage, marjoram, coriander, fennel, verbena, lemon balm, hyssop, mallow, cornflower, calendula, sunflower and more.
Carlos Nogueira takes a sensitive approach to planting. He pays close attention to the influence of the soil and the elements that make up the different parts of his farm on the plants. Since setting up, he has studied the way in which each plant unfolds within its growing cycle and its environment. To perfect this sensitive approach to life, he has decided to convert his estate to biodynamic agriculture, and in the near future will be able to supply us with Demeter-certified plants.
Traditional wild-gathered plants in a treasure trove of biodiversity
Among our partner growers who supply us with top-quality plants, we should also mention BIH nature, a company founded 15 years ago by Jean-Christophe de St-Léger in the Luberon region of France. While working as a journalist-reporter in the midst of the Yugoslav conflict, he travelled to what is now Bosnia-Herzegovina, where he welcomed refugee families into his home. After the war, he discovered the potential for economic development of this small country, which he believes to be the richest in biodiversity in Europe, with over 1,500 endemic plants.
The climate ranges from Mediterranean to continental, with peaks up to 3,000m above sea level. Harvesting here is a traditional practice associated with specific know-how, extensive knowledge of the plants' active ingredients, cutting and picking practices, drying and use.
The families of the producers are mainly, and rarely, wild gatherers (90%) in unspoilt areas, which is obviously reflected in the herbal teas, with their notions of terroir highlighted by a richness of flavor..
More recently, Jean-Christophe de St Léger has also been developing his business with producers in the South of France, whom he selects with the same exacting standards. His company supplies us mainly with violet flowers, elderflowers, mulberry leaves and raspberry leaves.
We hope this overview of our "wellness and health herbal teas" will help you make the right choice. To buy them, you can visit our website or go directly to our stores in Wittisheim in Alsace or Rennes in Brittany, where we'll be delighted to welcome you and advise you.
To fully benefit from the virtues of this infusion, we recommend adopting a healthy lifestyle and a varied, balanced diet.
