Natural Rooibos
Rooibos (Aspalathus Linearis), also known as the "red bush", is a fascinating plant that grows only in South Africa's Cederberg region, a particularly rugged mountainous area with an extremely rich biodiversity. Only the climate and soil of this terroir are conducive to the growth and cultivation of rooibos. Devoid of theine, its infusion offers unique, very smooth, round flavors that can be enjoyed at any time of day.

Rooibos: a shrub exclusive to South Africa
Pioneers on the rooibos market in Europe, we have been working with the Wupperthal cooperative since 1996 to offer the best quality rooibos. This unique shrub, endemic to the Western Cape, grows at an altitude of over 800 meters on sandy soil in an arid climate. The annual harvest, carried out with a sickle from January to March, yields the fine, tapering leaves used for infusions, which are totally devoid of theine.
The rooibos transformation process begins by cutting the twigs into small pieces, which are then spread out in a heap in the sun and sprayed with water to initiate fermentation. This crucial stage gives rooibos its characteristic sweet, rounded flavor and beautiful golden-red color. Once dried and pasteurized, the leaves are ready to offer a drink bursting with sunshine and sweetness.
Biodynamics for flavor and resilience
Since the beginning of 2018, we've been offering the first Demeter rooibos, grown biodynamically by Wupperthal Original Coop. This cooperative located in South Africa's Cederberg region embodies our commitment to sustainable, environmentally-friendly agriculture. The land, cultivated with biodynamic preparations since 2015, offers a rooibos of exceptional quality that is particularly rich in flavor. Our grower partners have also observed better resistance in biodynamically grown plants, notably with more vigorous plants in times of drought.

The benefits of rooibos
An infusion of organic rooibos is not only tasty, it's also good for your health. It contains polyphenols with antioxidant properties, including large quantities of ferulic acid.
A 150 ml cup offers as many antioxidants as a portion of red cabbage or cherries, making this infusion a veritable elixir of youth.
