Djoëlle lives in a community forest in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Her mother works there, looking after bonobos. The young girl is delighted by this situation: she adores the great apes, and is particularly attached to one of the females in the group, Marie-Louise. She's so passionate that she's just won a scholarship to go and present her friends at a primatology conference. But she leaves worried, as some of the monkeys seem particularly tired..
During the congress, she learns a lot about monkeys, but above all, she understands that the ones in her forest are obviously under the effect of a parasite, and that we'll have to hurry to save them. What Djoëlle doesn't know yet, however, is that another danger is lurking: a bulldozer is on its way to transform their haven of peace into an intensive farming zone... A race against time begins to save Marie-Louise and her fellow monkeys!
In an adventure full of twists and turns and rooted in highly topical issues, this new volume of the "Docs BD" series invites us to discover the majestic great apes - their specific characteristics, their environment, their abilities, but also the dangers that threaten them - through the eyes of an intrepid young enthusiast.
