Keiko range
Keiko organic teas are produced in the Kagoshima region of southern Japan. The Sakurajima volcano, still active, is responsible for the mineral-rich soil in this region, which provides exceptional growing conditions for the tea plants. Keiko teas are produced with the exacting standards you'd expect in Japan, particularly for shade teas. This involves covering the tea bushes with special netting between 10 and 21 days to deprive them of light. In this way, the production of amino acids and chlorophyll in the leaves is considerably increased, giving these Japanese shade teas their unique color and flavor. The rapid processing of fresh leaves, followed by vacuum storage, also sets Keiko teas apart from the rest, and ensures their organoleptic richness.
