Non-alcoholic mulled wine recipe
You love mulled wine spices*, but would you like to vary the traditional recipe a little? We've come up with a recipe for mulled red fruit juice, deliciously seasoned with typical winter spices, currants and almonds..
A delicious drink that has nothing to envy the Swedish mulled wines from which it was inspired! To be enjoyed without moderation..
Cooking time: approx. 20 minutes
Preparation time: approx. 10 minutes
Ingredients for 4 people :
- 2-3 tablespoons raisins
- 2-3 tablespoons almonds (whole or flaked)
- 150 ml fruit juice (elderberry, blackcurrant, cherry) for macerating
- 1 vanilla pod
- 1 walnut-sized piece fresh ginger
- 1 organic orange
- 200 ml orange juice
- 300 ml elderberry or blackcurrant juice
- 300 ml grape juice
- 50 g cane sugar (or 1 tablespoon honey)
- 1 tablespoon mulled wine spice (or more, to taste)
To make this recipe:
The day before:
Macerate the grapes and almonds in the elderberry juice.
Same day:
- Zest the orange finely. Split the vanilla pod and scrape out the seeds. Cut the ginger into thin strips.
- Mix the other juices, sugar, orange zest, ginger and spices, then heat without boiling. Stir occasionally to prevent the sugar from sticking.
- Cover and simmer over very low heat for 20 minutes. Strain.
- Divide the drained grape-almond mixture between large cups, add the hot juice and enjoy with Christmas cookies!
Tip: of course, this recipe also works with red* or white* wine!
