Made from a blend of black teas harvested in spring in the Himalayan foothills, this biodynamically-produced Darjeeling is an excellent choice for everyday drinking! Its golden brew offers intense floral fragrances and rich, balanced fruity flavours.

Selimbong tea garden
Terroir
The Selimbong tea garden is located in the Darjeeling district, close to the Nepalese border. At an altitude of over 1,500 meters, the garden stretches from the Sukhia forest reserve to the banks of the Balusun River. The district has a high-altitude subtropical climate with three distinct seasons: summer, monsoon and winter. Soils are clayey loam, sandy and acidic. Water resources include the Balusun River and numerous streams and springs from the surrounding hills and forests. The close proximity to nature means that birds such as parrots, woodpeckers, minivets, thrushes and barbets can be observed from the garden.
Context and challenges
Climate change is a real challenge for Darjeeling's only Demeter-certified tea garden, as it is the cause of insect and fungal infestations on the tea bushes.
Community projects
With the help of the Fairtrade Premium, training seminars have enabled producers to acquire the knowledge they need to combat these infestations and maintain the good health of the tea bushes. In addition, medical, social and economic development actions are regularly carried out for the benefit of the community, with the aim of improving their living conditions.
Organic farming
We have always offered organically grown teas and herbal teas, and used natural, organic flavours. We go even further, demanding that our suppliers use certified organic flavor carriers and solvents. Certified since 1994.

Guaranteeing the origin of our teas is one of our top priorities. We're delighted to finally be able to display the official Darjeeling logo on our packaging, a guarantee of the geographical origin of this tea that we've cherished since our origins. Since 2011, the European Union has recognized the only existing PGI for tea. A guarantee of protection for Indian producers and consumers alike.

Original tea
White, green, black and dark teas from China, India, Japan and elsewhere are all varieties from the same plant: the tea plant. Once plucked, the leaf is processed in different ways, undergoing numerous transformations. Depending on the terroir, the fineness of the leaf and the way it is processed, the result is an unlimited palette of tastes and vintages.
The farming moment
In biodynamics, the preparation "501" or "horn silica" is made from powdered quartz crystals contained in a cow's horn and left to mature in the ground during the summer.
This preparation focuses on the aerial part of the plant. Silica influences and optimizes sunlight reception. It thus promotes better ripening and resistance to disease.
Tea and food pairings
Spring Darjeelings, fresh and delicate, go particularly well with sweet, subtle vanilla-scented desserts. They can also be paired with almond- or pistachio-based cakes. In a savory dish, they go very well with scallops and early green vegetables.
