Rooibos and Honeybush - discover these South African plants

Rooibos & honeybush

Since 1996, our partnership with the Wupperthal cooperative has enabled us to offer the highest quality rooibos. Rooibos is grown in the sandy soil of the Western Cape at an altitude of over 800 metres, and harvested and processed for its mild flavour and antioxidant benefits. Honeybush, a cousin of rooibos, offers a gourmet, theine-free infusion with notes of flowers and honey, appreciated by South Africans for its soothing and stimulating properties.

Rooibos

Since 1996, our partnership with the Wupperthal cooperative in South Africa has enabled us to offer the finest quality rooibos, a unique shrub grown in the sandy soil and arid climate of the Western Cape, at an altitude of over 800 meters. Harvested from January to March, this theine-free plant is processed through cutting, sun-drying and fermentation to produce a sweet-tasting infusion with a distinctive golden-red color. Rich in antioxidants such as ferulic acid, rooibos is also good for your health. Discover our range, including Demeter rooibos grown biodynamically since 2015, for a unique taste and health experience.

Honeybush

Honeybush, also known by its scientific name Cyclopia subternata, is a shrub native to South Africa, grown and processed in a similar way to rooibos. When infused, its leaves offer a golden drink with distinct notes of flowers and mountain honey. Unlike tea, this infusion is devoid of theine, making it a soothing choice for any time of day. This luminous, gourmet beverage reflects the exceptional richness of South Africa's terroir.
