Origin of ingredients
Seogwang-ri on Jeju Island, South Korea
Terroir
Suh Sung-whan is the founder of Seogwang. In 1979, he transformed the wasteland near Dosun on Jeju Island into tea gardens producing green tea.
The gardens are located southwest of Mount Halla, an extinct volcano and South Korea's highest mountain, rising to 1,947 meters. Jeju Island is South Korea's largest island. The topography is extremely varied, marked by hills, low plateaus and unique rock formations.
The island enjoys a humid subtropical climate, characterized by hot, humid summers and mild winters. The rainy season runs from June to September, and there is also a period from April to May when mist falls over the Jeju foothills.
The region's volcanic soils are rich in minerals and magnesium. Numerous underground springs and streams are rain-fed.
The region's subtropical forests are home to a variety of endemic plants such as Camellia japonica and various fern species. The mixed coniferous and deciduous forests are home to a diverse fauna, including birds such as the Jeju pheasant and mammals such as the sika deer and Asian fox. Around the island you'll find notable marine biodiversity, with coral reefs, seaweed supporting numerous tropical fish and invertebrates.
Organic farming
We have always offered organically grown teas and herbal teas, and used natural, organic flavours. We go even further, demanding that our suppliers use certified organic flavor carriers and solvents. Certified since 1994.
Original tea
White, green, black and dark teas from China, India, Japan and elsewhere are all varieties from the same plant: the tea plant. Once plucked, the leaf is processed in different ways, undergoing numerous transformations. Depending on the terroir, the fineness of the leaf and the way it is processed, the result is an unlimited palette of tastes and vintages.
Tea and food pairings
This tea can be paired with mochi filled with anko, black sesame paste or taro. It's also a perfect accompaniment to vegetarian bibimpap, those delicious Korean casseroles of rice and grilled vegetables.

Ce n'est pas tout à fait ce à quoi je m'attendais. C'est un peu différent d'un Genmaicha qui ne contient pas de matcha et qui est un de mes thés favoris. Mais il reste intéressant.

Le Genmaicha Sud-Coréen ne vaut pas le thé japonais. Le goût de céréale si caractéristique de ce thé n'est pas assez présent à mon goût. Cela reste un très bon thé vert mais pour le prix, je suis un peu déçue.
