The matcha bowl, chawan in Japanese, literally "tea bowl", is indispensable for preparing matcha, the Japanese green tea powder. The shape of this bowl, of which there are many types, makes it easy to use the matcha whisk (chasen).

The relatively thick ceramic of the traditional bowl naturally regulates the temperature of the water as it is poured into it, thus avoiding burning the fine tea particles.

A handcrafted matcha bowl is a noble object to which one becomes attached, and which takes on a patina as it is used in the pure wabi-sabi tradition.

Matcha bowl in stoneware with blue flower motifs, handmade in Japan. Capacity 200 ml. Diameter 100 mm. Height 65 mm.

For preparing matcha but also as a tea bowl.

Care instructions:

Rinse with clean water and wipe well with a soft cloth to give a lustrous sheen.
