3 reasons to choose loose tea
Do you prefer loose leaf tea or tea bags? At Les Jardins de Gaïa, we've always preferred loose leaf tea, to offer you whole leaves capable of delivering the best of their flavors.
Leaf tea is adaptable to all situations and respects the subtlety of each tea. It's also environmentally friendly. There are many reasons to adopt this mode of consumption. In the age of Zero Waste and the growing importance of good products, it's best to choose loose leaf tea.
Find out below why you should choose loose leaf tea and how to prepare it quickly!
Reason n°1: discover the true taste of tea
It's obvious that rare, top-of-the-range teas deliver all their aromas with greater complexity when offered in whole leaf. The same is true of more classic teas, scented teas and flavored teas. This is the case for all tea colors (white tea, green tea, oolong tea, black tea, pu'er tea...).
For black teas, there is a classification of grades. At the top of the scale are whole-leaf and bud teas, and at the very bottom are "Dusts", made up of fine broken leaf dust, used mainly for tea bags and infusettes.
The preservation of whole leaves enables a slow infusion, allowing the aromas to develop with subtlety. In the case of a classic infusette, the broken leaves and dust release all their aromas very quickly, often bringing out more bitterness or astringency.
Reason n°2: easy to use, loose leaf tea adapts to any situation
Loose leaf tea makes it easy to adapt the quantity of tea to the volume of water chosen. Teacup, mug, individual or large teapot for the whole family? With the help of a filter integrated into the teapot, paper filter or tea ball, keep in mind the quantities needed and adapt!
What quantity of tea is recommended for brewing loose tea?
For classic teapots, we generally recommend using 2 g of tea for 1/4 liter. For most teas, 2 g is equivalent to 1 teaspoon. But for some teas with larger, lighter leaves, such as white teas, 2 g is more like 2 teaspoons. Adjust the quantities!
Tips for enjoying the flavours of loose tea
Tea preparation is not an exact science. Depending on your mood, vary the quantity of tea and the infusion time. This technique will allow you to discover the flavours that best delight your palate!
Reason no. 3: zero waste
Packaging in 50, 60 or 100 g bags is obviously much more environmentally friendly than individual tea bags.
The best: the teapot with integrated filter or the tea ball in which you put the tea leaves directly.
The alternative: Our paper filters* can be used as infusettes, which you can compose yourself and vary ad infinitum!
Place the tea of your choice in the filter (choose from our wide range of teas and herbal teas!). Cover with hot water, leave to infuse, remove and enjoy.
Did you know? High-quality loose tea can be brewed several times a day. Over time, it will develop new aromas..
