A new Indian First Flush to discover
Grown in the foothills of the Himalayas, this first-flush black tea is a little treasure of indulgence brought to us by the small-scale producers of the Subarna Tea Cooperative. Its smooth brew, which pleasantly coats the palate, offers notes of spring vegetables against a well-balanced, buttery, and sweet backdrop.

Subarna Small Tea Farmers Cooperative
Terroir
The Subarna Small Tea Farmers Cooperative is located in one of the most rural areas of the Darjeeling district. The farmers live in nearby villages, surrounded by dense virgin forests teeming with abundant flora and fauna. The climate is subtropical, and the monsoon season runs from April to September, with peak rainfall in June. Due to its high altitude, the soil is loamy and rich in organic matter from the surrounding forests. The region is home to numerous perennial rivers originating in the mountains, some of which flow through deep gorges. The virgin forests are home to endemic and endangered species such as the red panda, the Indian leopard, and the Himalayan black bear.
Context and Challenges
The expansion of human activity along the forest edges has led to a significant decline in wildlife, consequently causing landslides and flooding during the monsoon season.
Community Projects
To combat the effects of deforestation, farmers have adopted sustainable agricultural practices using traditional and organic methods.
Organic farming
We have always offered organically grown teas and herbal teas, and used natural, organic flavours. We go even further, demanding that our suppliers use certified organic flavor carriers and solvents. Certified since 1994.
Darjeeling PGI
Guaranteeing the origin of our teas is one of our top priorities. We're delighted to finally be able to display the official Darjeeling logo on our packaging, a guarantee of the geographical origin of this tea that we've cherished since our origins. Since 2011, the European Union has recognized the only existing PGI for tea. A guarantee of protection for Indian producers and consumers alike.

Early tea
Discover fresh, delicate teas bursting with spring flavors! Considered by some to be the quintessence of natural teas, primeurs are the fruit of the first Camellia sinensis leaf harvests of the year.
Original tea
White, green, black and dark teas from China, India, Japan and elsewhere are all varieties from the same plant: the tea plant. Once plucked, the leaf is processed in different ways, undergoing numerous transformations. Depending on the terroir, the fineness of the leaf and the way it is processed, the result is an unlimited palette of tastes and vintages.
