Manufactured in the city of Yokkaichi, one of Japan's main production centers, this reddish-brown teapot, typical of the "Banko Yaki" style, has the particularity of a Western-inspired pitcher shape.
Its sure grip makes it a pleasure to handle. Particular attention has been paid to the spout, which allows precise control of tea serving.
With a capacity of 480 ml, it allows even large leaves to unfurl freely. The leaves are held in place by an integrated ceramic sieve, hand-crafted using a technique requiring great skill on the part of the master potter.
The high shape of the teapot and its handle, which avoids burning during serving, make it ideal for brewing both green teas and teas requiring a high infusion temperature, such as Hojicha or wu long.
A pale green glaze has been applied to the inside of the teapot, making it easy to switch from one tea to another without the memory effect of terracotta, and to alternate all tea colors. This glaze also simplifies cleaning. The crackled aspect of this glaze (characteristic of this Fujiso teapot) is without risk of cracking.
A beautiful Banko-Yaki teapot, at the crossroads of Eastern and Western tea traditions.
Banko Yaki reddish-brown ceramic teapot (pale green interior glaze). Capacity approx. 480 ml.
