Van Chan cooperative
Terroir
This cooperative of small producers is located in the province of Yen Bai in north-western Vietnam. It is characterized by mountainous terrain and deep valleys with considerable variation in altitude. The province enjoys a tropical monsoon climate with generally high humidity. The soils are mainly ferrallitic, typical of tropical mountainous regions. Rainfall during the rainy season supplies the province with water and maintains a good level of soil moisture. Outside periods of heavy rainfall, several rivers crossing Yen Bai, such as the Thao River and its tributaries, play a crucial role in irrigating farmland. The region's tropical forests are home to many species of trees and medicinal plants.
Community projects
The Van Chan cooperative was founded in 2004 with the aim of exporting organic produce produced by ethnic minorities in the high mountains of Yen Bai. Faithful to their languages and customs, these producer communities are committed to preserving their culture while improving their living conditions. Fairtrade certified, the fair trade premium has enabled projects linked to business development to be carried out, through training, expansion of production areas and infrastructure improvements. One example is the reconstruction of a bridge in the Suoi Bu commune, following storm damage. The grant has also been used to finance organic farming training courses for all members.
Organic farming
We have always offered organically grown teas and herbal teas, and used natural, organic flavours. We go even further, demanding that our suppliers use certified organic flavor carriers and solvents. Certified since 1994.

Original tea
White, green, black and dark teas from China, India, Japan and elsewhere are all varieties from the same plant: the tea plant. Once plucked, the leaf is processed in different ways, undergoing numerous transformations. Depending on the terroir, the fineness of the leaf and the way it is processed, the result is an unlimited palette of tastes and vintages.
Tea and food pairings
The balanced, slightly sweet flavors of this black tea are ideal with a simple square of dark chocolate or fresh banana. A little overdosed, it can also be paired with hard cheeses such as young mimolette or grilled red meat.

Un thé que je connaissais.Il est issu de théiers anciens,ce qui est très intéressant,car ce type de thé est bien typé.Les feuilles me semblent différentes de celles issues de culture spécifiques.
